Selling guide
Selling cardigans second-hand
Cardigans sit awkwardly between knitwear and outerwear, and buyers treat them as both. The listing that does well makes clear which one it is: a thin layering cardigan and a heavy coat-weight one attract entirely different searches.
Photograph it
Shoot it closed and then open. Closed shows the shape, open shows the buttons and the true weight of the knit.
What buyers check
- Button condition and whether any are missing
- Weight of the knit — layering or outerwear
- Whether the front has stretched out of shape
The common mistake
Describing it only as a cardigan. Adding the weight and length doubles the number of searches it appears in.
