Selling dresses second-hand
A dress is bought on drape and length, and both of those are invisible on a hanger. The two questions in every message a dress seller receives are where it falls on the leg and how it sits at the waist — a photo on a body answers both before anyone has to ask.
Photograph it
If you are shooting flat, smooth the skirt outward rather than letting it bunch, so the true width of the hem is visible.
What buyers check
- Where the hem falls relative to the knee
- Whether it is fitted, A-line or straight through the waist
- Zip, buttons and lining, which decide whether it fits at all
The common mistake
Only showing the front. A dress with an open back or a tie is a different garment, and buyers feel misled.
