Selling skirts second-hand
Skirts are almost always bought on length and waist, in that order. Because the same nominal size varies wildly between a mini and a midi, the measurement in the description carries more weight here than in any other category except jeans.
Photograph it
Lay the waistband flat and unstretched, then photograph a tape across it — a stretched waistband measurement is the most common source of a dispute.
What buyers check
- Waist measured flat, and whether there is any stretch
- Total length from waistband to hem
- Whether it is lined, which decides if it is see-through
The common mistake
Measuring the waist while the fabric is stretched. It makes the skirt sound a size larger than it is.
